About me

LavenderSheep was started in 2006. Throughout my childhood I was inspired by textiles. My mother was an expert seamstress who designed wedding dresses from the sketch up. My grandmother was a spinner / weaver / knitter who would take me with her to her spinning and weaving guild meetings. What inspiration!

Those lovely guild ladies pushed me to take classes in textiles when I went off to college at University of Oregon. I studied a variety of topics from dyeing triaxial color wheels to weaving on Jacquard looms in Italy. I enjoyed every minute of it. I graduated with a double major in Business and Textiles.

After college I was inspired to create my own handpainted yarn. For many years I was a vendor at various shows around Oregon, including Black Sheep Gathering and Oregon Flock and Fiber. However, having a very active family with two kids made doing shows a bit difficult. So I switched to a combination of wholesale and online sales, with the occasional trunk show. I also found a lot of joy teaching classes and workshops.

During the lock down of 2020, I took up designing weaving patterns for Handwoven and Little Looms. My work can be found in several of their issues.
